During the 12th triennial national delegates’ conference of the union in Abuja on Wednesday, Osifo emerged as the winner of the presidential election. Shehu Mohammed, the returning officer, announced that Osifo received 688 votes while his opponent, Oyikan Olasanoye, received only 18 votes. 22 votes were declared invalid out of the 728 delegates that participated.
The election was only held for the office of the president due to internal disputes within the congress. Osifo, who is the national president of PENGASSAN, is a member of NSE, COREN, and SPE. He will be leading the union for the next three years. In his acceptance speech, he promised to prioritize the welfare of the masses and protect the interests of all Nigerian workers.
